This Richard Pryor high on cocaine clip is a peek into the manic insanity that was Richard Pryor's life. The sad truth about a lot of comedians, is what makes them funny are the dark demons that haunt them their whole life. His history of drug abuse is well documented, and there's a good chance that we have seen him high without knowing it, but this time it is clear that he has been doing cocaine before they started filming.
In this interview he had just finished shooting a movie with Gene Wilder which Richard Pryor was paid two million dollars. And in this interview he makes it clear that he has already been paid that money and it looks like he has started to put it to not so good of use because he is clearly in a manic mode that is almost assuredly from a cocaine binge.
It's too bad that Pryor couldn't handle these demons because they clearly were the death of him (he died at the age of 65 in 2005.) And to be honest, it was amazing that he lived that long. Despite being possibly the greatest stand up comedian in the history of comedy (if you ask any stand up living or dead Richard Pryor will most likely be in their top three if not number one) he couldn't stop doing drugs. Even to the point of setting himself on fire. It's so sad that someone so funny was so unhappy.
But what made him so popular was the fact that he told the truth, no holds barred. So it's only fitting that we should see this clip of the real, honest, and yes, high, Richard Pryor.
